    Extinct bird still eaten

    February 25th, 2009 at 1:13am |

So what’s the fate of the bird that way thought to be long extinct. Well in Philippines its still sold in poultry market and is eaten regularly. Quails are found all over the world and they are most popular for their tasty flesh. One particular type of quail found in Philippines was thought to be extinct for many years. now it was found in the local jungles. Buttonquail seems to be an elusive bird which can survive without being noticed. It can camouflage in dense jungles and it can never be detected.

Please see the picture of that bird photographed by some TV crew last month.

Before this picture “Buttonquail was Found only on the island of Luzon, Worcester’s buttonquail was known solely through drawings based on dated museum specimens collected several decades ago” . I hope Philippines people don’t finish off this bird eating it.
