According to experts a giant asteroid around 152 sq feet travelled very near to earth. Size of the asteroid is estimated to be similar to the one that struck Tunguska above Russia. Tunguska disaster one of the miracle in modern history where suddenly a huge area got completely burnt out as if there was a nuclear bomb explosion. Experts long believed that it could be some strange event but later evidences showed it was actually an asteroid that exploded right above Tunguska without reaching earth. And the debris from the Asteroid destroyed a huge area in Tunguska.

Now experts say if this asteroid would have entered earth’s atmosphere the devastation could have been similar to Tunguska. The gap was just 72,000 kilometers (44,750 miles), or a fifth of the distance between Earth and the moon and only twice the height of satellites in geosynchronous orbit, the Web site space.com said.

We should be lucky that the asteroid didn’t enter earth’s atmosphere, NASA has sophisticated program to blow up asteroids that might strike earth but the ones like this without warning could be disaster.
