    No takers for Slumdog millionaire

    March 6th, 2009 at 7:02am |

Slumdog millionaire the film which took away 8 oscars have no takers on theatres. In my city it hardly ran for more than 10 days and its already out of major theatres. It looks most award films don’t get commercial appeal to movie goers. The reader and The curious case of Benjamin button also has same fate no takers for these movies too.

This film proved to be a goo entertainment for western countries but here in India people are used to seeing these things in their everyday life. For us this film is nothing special so I am sure there won’t be any commercial value for this film in India.

Analysts believe lack of major actors in the film as well as few drawbacks like slum boys speaking perfect English is not acceptable to our audience. Also the title Slumdog is not familiar and lead to a lot of criticism which was later thrown away in court. Overall I feel slumdog didn’t get the appeal it got from westerners.
