Chimpanzees’ exchanges meat for sex:
A recent study published in discovery news shows chimpanzees exchange meat for sex. Scientists believe this is similar to what primitive humans did to impress females traditionally.
Females in premitive gets attracted to better hunter because better hunting strategies means more quality food required for females.
Now male chimpanzees reward females for sex. females approach males that carry carcasses and eat them or will grap it from the male chimps. Research were able to observe this strange meat exchange behavior when researching on chimps in west africa.
Also meat played more important role in sex exchange. When the chimps try to exchange other foods like fruits they never got the same reward. Similarly if they try grooming the female they get back only grooming.
Also scientists say “”one powerful result suggesting that meat-for-sex in humans is reflective of long-term pair bonds rather than just market exchange is that older men continue to hunt and share meat with their post-menopausal wives who are incapable of further reproduction.””
