Quiz 2 preliminary rounds completed.
Second preliminary rounds for our official 2009 Quiz competition got over on Saturday ( 13th November 2009 ) . It was great because the participation by everyone present in our quiz competition was electrifying. Almost everyone was involved 100% in 2nd round. I never saw the same thing in round one. I found round one people were lethargic not fully involved. Some were pretty bad in 1st round but 2nd round got everyone involved because we have lot of interaction in it. People got more involved since we had audio, video rounds.
There will be 3 preliminary rounds to test teams basic skills. After this stage I am planning to dissolve few teams that are performing badly and put the involved members in other well performing teams. I am also planning to test individual skills of few people and see if they are fit to progress to the next level of Quiz competition. I personally feel this year only the eligible should play. Getting the eligible play will make the show more involved. Also good team leaders can make even a weak team strong. I have seen that in Elavarasi and team. She is giving her best to get her team together and perform.
Few teams are so weak I am angry and frustrated with them since they get on your nerves when I am organizing. I want people to enjoy this quiz but also a quiz is a quiz and it cannot loose its charisma if ineligible people stay and play.
Running a competition is not easy especially if you are not going to stick with regular rounds and want to be adventurous and go for newly invented rounds you need to be very careful how you carry it forward. I have personally experienced a lot of how to carry people’s mind and how to get them involved. Also it helps me understand what’s going on in people’s mind which part they don’t like and which one they enjoy.
I am doing my best to be a good host. A good hold should be energetic, charismatic, and clever and should have previous proven ability to handle people. People can easily get on your nerves and you can lose your patience easily if they try to disturb you too much. That is the reason it’s better to eliminate the weakest and play only with people who are really interested as well as capable of handling tough rounds.
I want this quiz as a learning experience for people. We are all people who lead a regular life we don’t like adventures if we get a salary and asked to just work 9 to 6 we are happy to do it. But if you want to do a little bit more than your regular life you want to stay away from it. I feel this should change. That is what I am doing in my office. I feel office is not just to work it’s also a place where you can get to learn something as well as socialize. Schools and colleges do it better but many companies are not good at carrying its employees. I feel this trend which is already changing should change more. The HR department which is responsible for this should know new and innovative ways to get people attached and involved to a company. Ok I am going too off-topic. Coming back to quiz this year I am planning to test all possible skills. This is the 1st year we are giving away future rounds even before the quiz starts. We never did that in previous years. I want this to be the future I will reveal all rounds well in advance at-least 2 days before so that people can prepare for the event.
